The Matsya Scale Stud Earrings do not contain a fish motif — they are the fish. The entire earring is shaped as a single curved fish body in antique brass — its surface covered in fine overlapping scale engraving running the full length from head to tail, its dorsal fin raised and detailed, its tail splitting into two clean fins at the base, its head carrying a dotwork eye and a small crest above. At 5cm in length and 1.5cm across, the curved fish body creates a gentle arc at the ear that sits with the closeness of a stud whilst carrying the presence of a much larger piece. The antique brass finish gives the scale engraving its characteristic depth — the recessed areas of each scale darkening against the raised brass surfaces, creating a rippling, dimensional quality. The stud post sits discreetly behind the fish’s head.
